Some weekends just stick. Here are five worth planning.
1. The Fishing Trip
It doesn't have to be a remote wilderness adventure. A local lake, a couple of rods, and a cooler full of snacks is all it takes. The fish are secondary. The quiet time with your kid — that's the point.
2. The Garage Day
Pick a project. Change the oil, build something simple, fix something broken. Let them hand you tools, even when it takes twice as long. They're learning more than they know.
3. The Campfire Night
Backyard or backcountry — doesn't matter. Fire, food, and no screens. Tell stories. Let it run late. Those are the nights they'll talk about when they're grown.
Bonus points if you end up sleeping on the trampoline with them all night.
4. The Hunt
Whether it's deer season or just a morning walk in the woods, taking a kid into the field for the first time is something they never forget. Patient, quiet, early. Worth every minute.
5. The Do-Nothing Day
No plans. No schedule. Just outside. Ride bikes, throw a ball, wander around. The best days are sometimes the ones that didn't have an agenda.
At Pine & Iron Co., we build gear for exactly these kinds of days. Made for dads, kids, and the weekends worth remembering.
